Psalm 8 and Poetic Wonder… the radio spot

This is a heavily edited message about the power of poetry as a vehicle for the inspired word of God. Poetry is not a mere vessel for the message of poetic sermons, but is part of the message, holding secrets to meaning, and the power of emotive connection. In this sermon, I reflect on the tension of the poet as he is overwhelmed by the implications of the crashing of what he knows of God from even a glimpse into the wonder of the night sky with what Genesis tells him about God’s plan in creating man. We need to not only understand the poets theology, but must lose ourselves in his emotional wonder as well.
